Good stuff

B+ at least!

Kalaheo

fun singletrack

took the mountain bike out this afternoon.  Finally got off the road for a change, hadn't been there for awhile and it's so close to home.  Went to the top to enjoy the view.  Lot of trail expansion in the last year, unbelievable.  Still has the big jumps but alot more small ones and way more fun singletrack.  Cool pallet bridges everywhere.  Good fun!

Midweek

Wednesday already.  Picked up rents' yesterday from their Vegas/Oregon jaunt.....long trip.  Surfed Concessions this afternoon for an hour or so on a pretty fat high tide.  Not bad with some sets 3' or so.  What a difference from the morning tide, first too low now too high.  Saw Dirk, also at Courts the other day so twice this week after not seeing him since our trip time.
Saw Kick Ass this afternoon.....ok but not kick ass.  Weird role for Nick Cage.  Dinner at Korean Yakiniku place near Ala Mo.  Good place but can't remember the name.
Kaui playing with her ball yesterday.

Overhyped

Concessions this morning, overhyped swell but that's always the case for town.  Kinda crowded, all the regulars and then some.  Super low tide affecting the swell also, probably will be pretty good later today.  Another beautiful day!

Sunny weekend

What a beautiful, sunny weekend. Started with a fun scramble golf tourney on Friday and included alot of surfing, eating & drinking. Little bit of south swell but real shallow in the mornings. Surfed Concessions & 2nd holes on Saturday. Some 3' sets but some long waits. Courts on Sunday, a little smaller but still fun. Not too crowded either day for a weekend. Had some beers with Keith and his neighbor Kevin on Saturday and Aunty Janet stopped by with her T-bird. Looking good!
Went shopping with Saiko Sunday afternoon, then came home and grilled some Kalbi. Surf looks good for the week ahead.

Friday

Looks like some nice waves in the country this morning and that swell still trying to come in to town. No chance to surf this morning, went for a jog in the dark instead. Picked up board from Curtis yesterday, good as new. Golfing today in a tournament to help Alyssa's v-ball team. Rick recruited a bunch of us so should be fun.
Where to surf this weekend?

Tim Tebow??????

Donkeys draft Tim Tebow in the 1st Round. They also get Demaryius Thomas in the 1st. Sure hope they know what they're doing!??! Congrats to both Tebow and Thomas.

NFL Draft

Had dinner last night at Hanabi, a small, cozy izakaya. Nice variety, very tasty and according to Saiko, very authentic. Gotta go back.
Can't wait for the NFL draft today....who will the Broncos get? Surfed Concesssions early. Looks like the new swell is slowly coming in. Pretty nice conditions but a lowwww tide, scraped fins both coming and going. Fairly crowded with the anticipation of waves. Nice to see Paulo out this morning. Sorry to hear about his health issues....sucks....best wishes to him.

Mid-Pac

Congrats to Samuel Cyr for winning the Mid-Pac Open. Played 9 with Keith after work yesterday. SMOKING Fast greens! Good fun.

Weekend

Relaxing weekend. Surfed Courts with Jon after a run around the park. Nice conditions but not enough waves. Super low tide paddling in, scraped fins a few times & almost got grounded.
Breakfast at Good to Grill on Kapahulu, good but a bit pricy. Over the Pali, stopped at Curtis' house to drop off quad for repair, renewed Saiko's license, home to visit Kaui then back to town. Iolani fair to eat, play games and buy produce. Good food and cheap produce. Got a spider toy for Sylvester. Relaxing Sunday of finally sleeping in then watching some Lakers. Headed down to Waikiki for a walk thru DeRussy, Hilton Hawaiian, then down Kalakaua. Lunch at Nordstroms Cafe then tv & a afternoon nap. Good weekend and swells are coming North and South.

Chilly

Concessions this morning. Great conditions & mellow crowd but one problem...not enough waves. There were a few but the waits were long and it was freezing. How can Mark not use a wetsuit?
Had to crank up the heater on the way to work.

Gotta love the South shore, no traffic on the way to work, bumper to bumper going the other way. Not so easy when surfing country.
Good for Carissa Moore, donating her $15K prize to the local New Zealanders surf club.

Carissa Moore

Congrats to Carissa Moore for winning the ASP event in New Zealand!

Dawn Patrol

Paddled out at dawn. Came down from yesterday afternoon, probably because of the tide. Still some fun ones if you wait long enough. Nice and glassy for awhile then the wind came up but offshore. Not much crowd but chilly!

Long waits

Next swell?

Wednesday

Happy Wednesday. Considered a dawn patrol but instead waited til early afternoon. Pretty good waves at the park. Surfed Concessions. Chilly winds but sunny and not very crowded. Up to 3+ ft on the sets and lots of waves in some sets. Some closeouts on the rights but some saga ones too. Here are a few samples of Concessions. Big Rights looked fun too, saw Guy get a nice barrel and a few others also.

Later, had dinner at Pho Thinh. Pretty good Pho and Saiko's chicken and veggies looked pretty good. Time to sleep and hit it tomorrow am.

Kailua

Took Kaui to the beach today. Windy, choppy typical east side day. Few surfers, SUP & longboards.

The crowd near Palapu

Cruising

Must be a dog coming.

Cooked some Champuru(sp?) tonight from Aunty Jan and Aunty Sue's recipe. Came out pretty good, not good enough to post pics. Easy to prepare and pretty healthy!

Dog sitters

Good evening. Nothing exciting going on. Another workweek begins. Lunch today with Bryan, Rick and Guy at Mexico restaurant on School St. First time there and really enjoyed it. Related to Mexico Lindo in Kailua but I thought this place was better.
Went over to the rents' place to pickup Kaui and stayed for dinner last night. Ocean looked nice. Saw counsin Reid, Jake and Kylie out front. Jake got to drive down the street from Reid's lap.

Sunday

Took a early morning jog down Kalakaua. Small waves and pretty crowded by 7am. Canoes looked like a zoo, Queen's not so much.
Dinner last night at Le Bistro in Niu Valley. Oysters and Opakapaka for me, Escargot and Lamb Chops for Saiko. Oishii! Sorry no pics. Recommended.
Who's gonna win the Masters? I'd say Phil. Hope Tiger makes a run.
By the way, Sylvester is such a pain at night.

Diamond Head

Lost $40 at poker last night. Sucker, no wonder they invite me. Didn't even look at the park. Went to Diamond Head this morning. Maybe head high on the sets. Couple swell directions but kinda fun. No crowd and medium wind. Lighthouse looked fun too.
Can't believe BJ lost! Wow, wow, wow.
Time to watch some Tiger at the Masters, pick up Saiko and then do some shopping for Mia's birthday.

Pics & Vid posting practice

1st attempt at posting pics and a vid. Took a few ski trips this season so here's a few samples of what I saw. Didn't see a single snowflake in 2 trips to Tahoe but got paid back nicely in Whistler.
However, nothing compares to the conditions right now............everywhere. Wish I was up there somewhere. Oh well.

Getting started

Intro to the blog world. Not sure how often I'll be posting but thought it might be fun to try. Didn't surf today but heard it was crowded in the park this morning. Probably get wet tomorrow.
